Kingsland and RJ Facilities Charity Day 2019

Friday 6th September 2019 in aid of Kidscan

Lytham Green Drive GC was again host to Kingsland Drinks and RJ Facilities for their annual charity golf day which this year was on behalf of Kidscan Children’s Cancer ResearchThis is the 7th year we have done this, and each year continues to be better than the previousOur total this year was over £10,300.00Which is brilliant, and the Club should rightly congratulate itself on this magnificent achievement.
The weather cleared at 1100 hours in line with the weather forecast and 28 teams set out in clear skies and breezy winds to compete in a 16-hole Texas Scramble. The winners were Captain Tony Baxter, President Steve Ellis, Doug Chilton and Rick Anderson with a score of 48.6 measured on the scorecards produced especially for the occasion by Jim Smart.
Rick also won nearest the pin on the 13th

The 5th and 18th holes were a separate competition organised by Lady Captain Jane Dickens with all 4 to score and the best nett team score to win a prize donated by Jane.

This was won by the “Young Guns” led by Vinny Donohoe whose team also came second in the overall event

Jane’s own team “The Ladybirds” splendid in their “Dotty” golf shirts didn’t win this year but Bev Pearson won the Ladies nearest the pin competition on the 15th, with Graham Ashton a close second!!

Nearest the “Wobbly Line” competition, brilliantly drawn by Dougie, as it should be with all the practise he gets, was won by Pat Smart and a guest for the men, Conway Whitty.

The best team name, chosen by Lady President, Susan Havenhand and Sarah went to “I hope the other 3 play well” which seemed to relate to many of the teams or so we understand!!!

The auctioneer was again this year Janet Walker did a wonderful job of selling all the auction items ranging from Lytham Festival tickets, kindly donated by Cuffe & Taylor, which they have done every year, to a telephone auction bid by “Delia Smith” Chair of Norwich City FC for the VIP tickets to Burnley V Norwich later in September. (we are still unclear as to how she knew about the event)

The successful bid was for £375 and thanks go to B&D Print for their continued support

Ian Stewart, Sarah and the team were again superb in looking after 115 dinner guests and everyone was very pleased with the high standard of food and service. Many thanks and very well done to all

There were 112 players on the day with many from other clubs and all praised the exceptionally high standard in the way our course was presented.

Doug you and your team deserve our highest praise and thanks for a job well done
